Abbey Ettal is one of the most famous and admired sights in the area of Garmisch – Partenkirchen.

Signed in groups can be offered a very special tour through the monastery complex. 15 persons or more can enjoy the church including a tour through the Ettal Basilica, the abbey’s distillery and the museum of brewery. Depending on the wished tour programme guided tours take 20 to 90 minutes.

Tours during times of prayers, worship service or on Sundays or feast days are not possible.

Church “Wies”

The church Wies near Steingaden is one of the most beautiful Rokoko churches of the entire southern German area and part of the UNESCO world heritage list.

Every Wednesday pilgrimage days:

8.15am morning prayer

10.00am pilgrimage mass

11.00am church tour

11.45am musical meditation

2.30pm church tour

4.00pm pilgrim prayer for your way

You do not need any registration.

Famous abbey of the Salesian Don Boscos with Basilica St. Benedict.

During the 1250 years old history of this abbey almost every century has left its marks. Those, who visit the abbey, get an image of the artistic and spiritual richness of the past.


A part of Abbey Benediktbeuren is free for viewing from 9am to 5.30pm:

the Gothic cloister of 1493,
the Gothic refectory with numerous historical artefacts (e.g. a facsimile of the Carmina Burana),
the exhibition of Salesian Don Boscos deeds,
the historical “Fraunhofer-Glashütte”, which reminds of works and deeds of the famous physician and optician Joseph von Fraunhofer.

Other partes can only be viewed during a guided tour:

the ceremonial hall of the early Baroque 1672/75,
the “Kurfürstensaal” of the years 1728/32.
